This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Christina "Chrissy" Rossi who was born in New York on December 31, 1979 and left this earth to fly free with the angels on July 25, 2006 at the age of 26. We will remember her forever, and always keep her alive in our hearts and minds!

WE’RE HERE TODAY TO CELEBRATE OUR DAUGHTER CHRISTINA’S LIFE. WHAT’S IMPORTANT FOR ALL OF US TO REMEMBER IS HOW CHRISSY “LIVED”, NOT HOW SHE DIED! ON DECEMBER 31, 1979 CHRISTINA WAS GIFTED TO US AND THIS WORLD, AND IN HER VERY BRIEF 26 YEARS ON THIS EARTH MANAGED TO TOUCH AN EXTRAORDINARY AMOUNT OF PEOPLE AND CREATURES. ONLY 5 FEET TALL AND 90 POUNDS SOAKING WET, SHE HAD THE STRENGTH TO STAND UP FOR WHAT SHE BELIEVED IN, SAID IT LIKE IT IS, NO MATTER IF YOU WANTED TO HERE IT OR NOT, AND YET, WAS AS GENTLE AS AN ANGEL TO ALL WHO NEEDED HELP. CHRISTINA’S ILLNESS BLESSED HER WITH AN INSIGHT INTO HUMANITY AND THE ABILITY TO HELP OTHERS WITH COMPASSION AND LOVE.
SHE HAD A SPECIAL GIFT THAT MADE EVERYONE WHO MET HER, EVEN FOR JUST THE BRIEFEST MOMENT, COME AWAY WITH A SPECIAL FEELING. SHE WAS ABLE TO HELP AND UNDERSTAND OTHER PEOPLES WEAKNESSES BUT WAS UNABLE TO HELP HERSELF RID THE TORMENTS IN HER MIND. THE DEEP PAIN THAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING NOW IS WHAT OUR DAUGHTER LIVED WITH HER THROUGH HER LIFE. SHE WOULD SAY TO ME, MOM, I WANT TO BE HAPPY AND ENJOY LIFE, BUT I CAN’T. SHE TRIED HER VERY BEST TO REMAIN HERE WITH US, BUT THE PAIN WAS TOO MUCH TO CONTINUE TO BEAR!
CHRISSY WAS UNPRETENTIOUS ON THIS EARTH, AND NEVER CARED ABOUT ‘THINGS’, BUT IT WAS WORDS AND FEELINGS THAT MEANT SO MUCH TO HER. SHE WAS BLESSED WITH A FAMILY , EXTENDED FAMILY OF GOOD FRIENDS AND A VERY SPECIAL BOYFRIEND WHO ALL TRULY LOVED HER, BUT UNFORTUNATELY SHE COULD NEVER FEEL WORTHY OF THAT LOVE OR HAVE THE ABILITY TO LOVE HERSELF.
EVEN TIL CHRISSY’S LAST DAY ON EARTH SHE CONTINUED TO WORK AND CARE IN A GROUP HOME FOR DISABLED ADULTS WHILE FIGHTING HER OWN TORMENTS. BEFORE SHE LEFT US, CHRISSY MADE SURE TO TELL US ‘SHE LOVED US’, ENDING HER MULTIPLE PHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH ‘I LOVE YOU’. HER LAST GIFT TO US AND THIS WORLD WAS A HEALTH CARE PROXY STATING HER LAST WISHES REGARDING NO VENTS TUBES OR EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES TO KEEP HER ALIVE,AND THEREBY RELEASING US FROM ANY ADDITIONAL PAIN.CHRISSY’S LAST SELFLESS GIFT WAS TO LEAVE PART OF HERSELF TO HELP OTHERS BY DONATING HER BONE AND TISSUES FOR RECIPIENTS TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE.
ON JULY 25TH, CHRISSY CELEBRATED HER REBIRTH WITH MANY PEOPLE WHO WERE HERE WHEN SHE WAS BORN ON EARTH, AND I KNOW MAMA, PAPA, PAPU , GRANDPA AND A HOST OF CREATURES WERE JUST A VERY FEW WHO SURROUNDED HER WITH OPEN ARMS TO GREET HER ON THE OTHER SIDE . AS WE ARE HERE TODAY CELEBRATING THIS GENTLE SPIRIT, SHE IS CELEBRATING HER NEW LIFE, A LIFE IN PEACE.SO NOW WHEN WE THINK OF CHRISSY, LETS SMILE AND REMEMBER HER BEAUTY, COMPASSION AND UNIQUENESS, BECAUSE CHRISSY IS FINALLY TRULY SMILING.

Once I was walking down the sidewalk and I saw a caterpillar hanging from a tree. But this wasn't and old caterpillar. This was the most beautiful caterpillar I've ever see in my whole entire life! It looked so cool. It had rainbow stripes down its back and its eyes were baby blue. Then I started walking again, and I heard a voice. It sounded so cute. It sounded like it said," Don't leave." So I walked backwards. It go louder and louder. I was looking around and then I went to the caterpillar. The sound was comming from it. It said its name was Chrissy. She said, " Can you take me to your house?' I said yes, so she came on my hand. When we got home, she saw my dog Bella. She was scared of her. I put Chrissy in a cup with holes and put some different types of vegetable leaves in it. The next morning she was in a blue chrysalis. I started to talk to her but it sounded like she said. " Mmm! Mmm! Mmm! " So I just waited for one month and then I saw a crack in the chrysalis. The chrysalis started to shake and then it opened! It was a rainbow colored butterfly! I let her out of the cup. Then she flew by my sister. She thought it was a remote control butterfly because it was so beautiful it looked fake. My sister said " Who is that?" I said "Chrissy." Then she said, " Can I have some of the eggs when she lays them? I said "no." She said " Aww!" So I said, " Okay." Chrissy said she wanted to show some old friends her wings like Geoffrey the glow worm. So she flew to his house. He was now a lightning bug. He said " These wings are so cool." Chrissy showed Geoffrey how she can fly and do eight flips. He said " That's cool. Watch this!" He made himself light up. She said "That's so cool." He said, "Thanks." Then I let go of Chrissy and they flew away together. A couple of years passed and I got mail from them. It said they got married.

Update on Memorial fund As this year has passed and our work to have the Chrissy's Wish Memorial fund come to life, I am so glad to report that it truly is taking it's own wings to fly. As of today, July 19, 2007 the golf outing is looking to be a success. The golfer attendees are at the maximum number of 144 and the dinner- only attendees are upwards of 134+. I know that with Chrissy's guidance and so many wonderful people behind her fund, we WILL make mental illness something of the past. God Bless all the supporters, friends, family and angels that are behind us. This will be the first of many to come, so let's all pray for the researchers and for our continued support.

Memorial Fund Many people have been asking what they could do to celebrate and remember Chrissy's life. We are in the process of developing a Memorial Fund to support research for better medications and treatments for these devastating disorders that affect so many people. As soon as the fund is established I will notify all through this site. Perhaps Chrissy's death could help bring peace and happiness to many other talented, beautiful people!
Chrissy's Hope Chrissy, my beautiful baby tried so hard to live peacefully and happily, but unfortunately her illness was too difficult to bear. I know Chrissy would love to know that mental illness research continues, but at a much faster rate to find cures or at least to keep many of the disorders under better control. Chrissy loved all animals whether 2 or 4 legged, showing tolerance to all and tried to help as many as possible. Please be kind to all God's creatures and try to help those less fortunate or in need.
